Wood Care Kit – Cleaner + Shield

Wood Care Kit - Cleaner + Shield combines teak cleaning with transparent stain protection. This Golden Care kit contains Teak Cleaner 1000 ml, Teak Shield 1000 ml and the corresponding accessories. First clean the suitable wood, then treat it with Shield once it is completely dry. This ensures you carry out the two maintenance steps in the correct order.

For teak with a natural look

This combination is suitable for caring for teak and hardwood with a transparent Shield treatment. Teak Cleaner removes dirt and helps freshen up discoloured wood. Shield makes the treated wood water- and dirt-repellent and helps prevent stains. The manufacturer also says Shield helps preserve the weathered, silvery-grey appearance of teak for longer.

Decide in advance which look you want. The kit contains Cleaner and Shield; a coloured Teak Protector is not part of this combination. Clean first and assess the surface

Read the labels on both bottles and have the corresponding accessories ready. Protect the work area and wear the gloves and eye protection specified. Wet the suitable teak before applying Teak Cleaner. The Dutch cleaner instructions specify a three-minute dwell time; then clean with a suitable pad in the direction of the wood grain and rinse thoroughly.

Let the wood dry completely before using Shield. If the cleaned wood feels rough, Golden Care recommends lightly sanding it and removing all dust before applying protection. For new wood, follow the preparation instructions on the label and the furniture care advice. Applying Shield to existing grey patina also requires care: the Shield instructions describe gently dabbing it on to preserve the patina.

Then apply Shield in a thin layer

Shake Shield for at least one minute and work on wood that is completely dry and dust-free. Apply thin coats using the specified applicator. Follow the waiting time between coats and the drying time before exposure to the weather as stated on your bottle. The drying time between two coats is not necessarily the same as the time before the furniture can be used again.

How to use this product

3. Clean with a suitable pad in the direction of the wood grain, rinse and let dry completely.
4. Check for roughness, sand lightly if necessary and remove all dust from the wood.
5. Shake Shield for at least one minute and apply a thin coat according to the bottle instructions; treat teak with a grey patina as described there.
6. Follow the specified number of coats and allow the product to dry completely before use and exposure to the weather.

Does this kit provide a brown color?

The combination contains transparent Shield. A colored Teak Protector is a different treatment.

Does Shield prevent teak from ever turning gray?

No. Shield is transparent; the manufacturer actually mentions retaining the patina-gray appearance for longer.
