Choosing the right care for your garden furniture
A teak table, a rope chair and a synthetic wicker lounge set do not necessarily need the same treatment. Start with the material, finish and previous care treatment. Our care guide helps you find the right approach.
For suitable wood, choose from Teak Cleaner, coloured protectors and transparent Teak Shield. For suitable fabrics and rope, use Fabric Cleaner 750 ml and Fabric Protector 750 ml. For suitable hard surfaces, see Multi Surface Cleaner 750 ml and Multi Surface Protector 750 ml.
For tabletops, distinguish between Stone Protector 500 ml for approved stone and ceramic applications, and HPL & Polywood Protector 500 ml. Always check your furniture care instructions and the label on your bottle. Browse the care product collection for individual bottles, kits and accessories.
Frequently asked questions about garden furniture maintenance
How do I maintain teak garden furniture?+
First, check the furniture advice and any previous oil or coating treatment. Clean suitable wood with Teak Cleaner and allow it to dry completely. Choose a color protector for the desired shade or Teak Shield for transparent, water- and dirt-repellent stain protection. For new teak, tailor the preparation to the furniture and the chosen treatment; treating within two weeks is not a general rule. Read the teak advice.
How do I remove green stains from garden furniture?+
Tailor the cleaning to the material and finish. For suitable teak, choose Teak Cleaner; for suitable hard materials such as plastic wicker, look at Multi Surface Cleaner 750 ml. Rope and textiles follow the Fabric route. Test first and follow the dwell time and rinsing instructions on your bottle. View the advice on green stains. Choose protection separately afterwards; re-staining remains possible.
How do I make garden cushions water-repellent?+
Check the fabric advice and test the products. Use Fabric Cleaner 750 ml according to the label, rinse thoroughly and let the cover and filling dry completely. For suitable textiles, Fabric Protector 750 ml is the protective step. The product makes suitable textiles water- and dirt-repellent, not waterproof. Follow the instructions on the bottle for application and drying. View the textile advice.
Which product do I need for aluminum garden furniture?+
For suitable hard surfaces, use Multi Surface Cleaner 750 ml. After cleaning, rinsing and drying, choose a protector suitable for the frame and coating: for example, Aluminium Protector 500 ml for approved powder-coated applications or Multi Surface Protector 750 ml for suitable hard materials. If white spots or damage remain visible, ask for specific advice. A protector does not repair a peeling coating.
Will my teak furniture turn grey if I do nothing?+
Teak naturally greys outdoors. If you want to maintain a wood colour, compare the colour protectors from our teak collection, including Honey Brown, Blonde, Natural Brown and Instant Grey. For a transparent, water- and dirt-repellent treatment, take a look at Teak Shield. Make a colour sample and follow the advice for the existing finish and the chosen bottle.
