A well-maintained exterior starts with cleaning and can then receive a protective treatment. The Golden Care BBQ Care Kit combines BBQ Cleaner and BBQ Protector, 750 ml each, with the corresponding accessories. The kit is intended for suitable enamel, stainless steel, and powder-coated metal surfaces. Check the finish and maintenance advice of your barbecue or outdoor kitchen.
Two bottles with different tasks
The BBQ Cleaner removes dirt, grease, and stains. The BBQ Protector follows for a water- and dirt-repellent treatment. Because the products perform different steps, read both bottle labels before you start. Plan the application, rinsing, and buffing as separate parts of the process.
This version contains two bottles of 750 ml each with corresponding accessories. Check the contents of your own kit when you set everything up. For each step, use the tool prescribed by the respective bottle and the finish of the appliance.
Checking the application per part
Golden Care lists enamel, stainless steel, and powder-coated metal as the material group for the BBQ products. Look at the materials of the exterior and check whether the bottle and the appliance advice allow the treatment. For both products, first perform a test on a small, inconspicuous part.
For grill grates, burners, the interior, and food-contact parts, no application is confirmed here. For that, follow the appliance instructions and a suitable product. A kit for the maintenance of suitable outdoor surfaces does not provide a general treatment for all parts of a barbecue.
Cleaning with BBQ Cleaner
Protect the work area and wear the personal protection mentioned on the bottle. The Dutch Golden Care instructions describe the Cleaner as ready to use. Apply according to the label and observe the curing time mentioned there. In the Dutch instructions, it states three minutes.
Then clean carefully with a suitable sponge or soft pad and rinse with water according to the instructions. Repeat as necessary as stated on the bottle. Check the result and complete the cleaning before using the Protector. For a damaged or unknown finish, first ask advice about the appliance.
Protecting with BBQ Protector
After cleaning, follow the preparation of the Protector. Shake the bottle, perform the test, and apply a thin layer to the suitable parts. The Dutch instructions mention drying for three minutes and then buffing thoroughly with a soft, clean, and dry cloth.
In case of deviating instructions, follow the labels of your kit. Also check the appliance advice before using the barbecue again. A water- and dirt-repellent treatment has a maintenance function; for a damaged coating or a technical part, a separate assessment of the appliance is required.
Maintaining after the first treatment
Check the condition of the exterior during use and follow the cleaning advice of the barbecue manufacturer. For the Protector, Golden Care mentions re-treating at least annually. Before repeating, assess the surface again and follow the appropriate preparation.
