Step 1

Start with the wickerwork

They look similar, but soft rope and synthetic wicker require their own approach. Therefore, check first what your chair or lounge set is made of.

Wickerwork in an authentic Dutch Garden patio setting. Check whether your furniture is made of rope, synthetic wicker, or natural rattan.

How to do it

  1. Set the cushions aside and remove leaves and loose dirt.
  2. Check the material and maintenance advice: rope, synthetic wicker, or natural rattan.
  3. Also, inspect the knots and joints. In case of fraying or breaks, ask for repair advice first.
💡 Tip: Treat the wickerwork, the frame, and the cushions as separate components.

For natural rattan, follow the specific furniture care instructions. The method for synthetic wicker is not automatically suitable for it.

Step 2

Clean the wickerwork gently.

Start small and work carefully. Using a suitable product and a soft tool, you can also reach the areas between the wickerwork.

How to do it

  1. For synthetic wicker, choose a suitable Multi-Surface cleaner; for rope, follow the Fabric instructions.
  2. Test on an inconspicuous area first and apply according to the bottle label.
  3. Clean gently, rinse as directed, and allow the material to dry thoroughly.
💡 Tip: Follow the dosage and application time indicated on your bottle. Scrubbing harder is no substitute for the right product.

For suitable synthetic wicker: Multi Surface Cleaner 750 ml or the Multi Surface Care Kit. For suitable rope, choose Fabric Cleaner 750 ml, sold separately or in the Fabric Care Kit. Check the material recommendations and current availability.

Step 3

Provide clean fabric with appropriate protection

Is everything clean and completely dry again? Then you can apply a protector, provided it is suitable for the material and the furniture care instructions.

How to do it

  1. Check for suitability and test the protector separately. For suitable rope, choose Fabric Protector; for synthetic wicker, use the appropriate Multi Surface protector.Apply evenly, distribute according to the label, and allow to dry completely before use.
💡 Tip: Also check between the threads and around the buttons to see if the material is dry.

See Fabric Protector 750 ml for suitable rope or Multi Surface Protector 750 ml for suitable synthetic wicker. The Multi Surface Care Kit combines cleaning and protection. A protector does not repair damaged strands and does not make furniture maintenance-free.

Step 4

Keep your garden furniture looking good between uses

Removing a leaf or dealing with a fresh stain in time takes very little effort. This keeps maintenance manageable, even at the end of the season.
