After cleaning, you can further care for the suitable exterior of your barbecue or outdoor kitchen. Golden Care BBQ Protector is a water- and dirt-repellent treatment for suitable enamel, stainless steel, and powder-coated metal. The bottle contains 750 ml. Check the material and finish and follow the product label and the maintenance advice for your barbecue.
Where the protection step applies
Golden Care lists the same group of materials as for the matching BBQ Cleaner: enamel, stainless steel, and powder-coated metal. First, determine which finish the parts you want to treat have. An appliance may contain different materials; choose the application for each suitable part.
This explanation concerns suitable exterior surfaces of barbecues and outdoor kitchens. This application is not confirmed for grill grates, burners, the interior, and parts that come into contact with food. For that, consult the instructions of the appliance manufacturer. Do not automatically include those parts because they belong to the same barbecue.
First remove the dirt
Golden Care describes cleaning with BBQ Cleaner before the Protector. Perform that step according to the corresponding bottle and finish it carefully. The Protector is then applied to the surface prepared according to the instructions. This keeps cleaning and protecting as two distinct steps.
Inspect the finish after cleaning. If there are damages, peeling coating, or spots whose cause you do not know, first seek advice about the appliance. A water- and dirt-repellent maintenance treatment does not provide repair advice for a damaged finish.
Apply thinly and wipe off carefully
Protect the work area and wear the gloves and eye protection mentioned on the packaging. Shake the bottle and first test the treatment on an inconspicuous area. Apply a thin layer as described on the product label. Work only on the materials and finishes for which the application is confirmed.
The Dutch Golden Care instructions mention drying for three minutes. After that, wipe the treated surface thoroughly with a soft, clean, and dry cloth. In case of deviating instructions, follow your own bottle label. For any additional drying and usage instructions, also read the advice of the barbecue manufacturer.
Include the outdoor kitchen in the maintenance
The Protector makes suitable surfaces water- and dirt-repellent. Keep the exterior clean according to the appliance advice and assess the condition during a new treatment. Golden Care recommends re-treating at least once a year. For your application, follow the product label and the prescribed preparation.

First use the appropriate BBQ Cleaner for that purpose. The Protector is the follow-up step as described.
How do I finish applying the Protector?
The Dutch instructions mention letting it dry for three minutes and then polishing thoroughly with a soft, clean, dry cloth. The instructions on the bottle take precedence.
Is this for the grill grate?
Its use on grill grates, the interior, or food-contact parts is not confirmed here. For that, follow the appliance recommendations and use a suitable product.
How often should I repeat this?
Golden Care recommends at least once a year. Assess the condition and follow the product and appliance instructions.
