Use Fabric Cleaner 750 ml to clean suitable outdoor cushions and fabrics. Golden Care lists outdoor upholstery, parasol fabrics and rope among the materials this fabric cleaner can be used on. Start by checking the material’s care label and testing for colourfastness. Then follow these clear steps: dampen, clean, rinse thoroughly and allow to dry completely.

First check the fabric of your furniture

A lounge cushion, parasol fabric and upholstered seat may be made from different materials and have different finishes. So check whether the furniture or fabric manufacturer says the textile can be treated with water and a suitable cleaner. Choose an inconspicuous spot for the test. This lets you check colourfastness before cleaning a visible area.

Golden Care describes Fabric Cleaner as suitable for outdoor fabrics, textiles, rope and outdoor velvet. If your furniture has a metal frame, treat the upholstery and frame according to the recommendations for each material. Do not apply the advice for textiles to other parts without checking first.

Dampen, clean gently and rinse

The cleaner is ready to use. First dampen the suitable fabric thoroughly with water, then spray the cleaner onto the wet surface. The Dutch bottle instructions specify a contact time of 3 to 10 minutes, depending on how dirty the fabric is. Then clean it with a suitable sponge or soft scouring sponge, in accordance with the material recommendations.

Next, rinse the treated fabric thoroughly with clean water and leave it to dry. If the stains have not disappeared completely, follow the bottle instructions for a repeat treatment. Use the directions on the current label; the cleaning intensity should be appropriate for both the level of soiling and the fabric being treated.

Protect the fabric only once it is completely dry

Golden Care recommends using a suitable Fabric Protector after cleaning. The surface must be clean and completely dry first. Plan these as two separate steps: fabric that still contains moisture is not yet ready for the protective treatment. Then follow the protector’s own instructions for use.

If you want to add the protection step, see Fabric Protector for outdoor cushions and textiles. The blog about cleaning outdoor cushions provides more information on cleaning, washing, stains and drying. The care label on your own cushion or fabric should always take precedence.

How to use this product

  1. Check the fabric care label and test for colourfastness in an inconspicuous spot.
  2. Wear the gloves recommended on the label and thoroughly dampen the suitable fabric with water.
  3. Spray Fabric Cleaner onto the wet surface and leave it to work for 3 to 10 minutes, as directed on the current label.
  4. Gently remove the dirt with a suitable sponge or soft scouring sponge.
  5. Rinse the fabric thoroughly with clean water and leave it to dry completely.
  6. For any repeat treatment and subsequent treatment with Fabric Protector, follow the instructions on the relevant bottle.
