A stain on your lounge cushion and the protection of the clean fabric require two different steps. The Golden Care Fabric Care Kit combines Fabric Cleaner and Fabric Protector, 750 ml each, with the appropriate accessories. This allows you to first clean suitable outdoor textiles and then treat them to make them water- and dirt-repellent. Check the material and care label before use.

What the two bottles do

Fabric Cleaner removes dirt, grease, and stains from suitable outdoor textiles. Fabric Protector is the follow-up step on clean, completely dry fabric and makes it water- and dirt-repellent. Both products have their own application method. Therefore, read both labels before treating a cushion, parasol cover, or other textile.

Golden Care also calls the Fabric line for rope. Check the fiber and finish of your own furniture and follow the fabric manufacturer's advice. For plastic wicker, choose the route for the relevant hard material. The Fabric kit is therefore a choice for suitable textile applications, with a check per part of your garden set.

First check and test the textile

View the care label and check whether the described treatment is suitable. Perform a color fastness and material test on a small, inconspicuous part according to the bottle instructions. Let that test be sufficiently assessed before tackling a large area. The material name or color of a cushion alone does not provide complete care instructions.

Protect the area where you work and wear the personal protection mentioned on the label. Prepare the appropriate accessories and plan the time to rinse and dry. For a piece of furniture with a metal frame or wooden parts, treat those parts according to their own care route.

Use the Cleaner on moistened fabric

The Dutch Fabric Cleaner instructions begin with moistening the textile. Apply the ready-to-use cleaner to the moistened fabric. Depending on the soiling, Golden Care mentions a dwell time of three to ten minutes. Clean carefully with a soft sponge and rinse with water according to the instructions.

Repeat the cleaning step as necessary according to the label and then let the textile dry completely. The Protector belongs on dry fabric. By consciously planning the drying time between the two products, you follow the manufacturer's order and can assess the clean fabric before continuing.

Treat the dry fabric to make it water- and dirt-repellent

Before the second step, read the Fabric Protector label and also test that treatment on an inconspicuous spot. Shake the bottle. The Dutch training describes spraying evenly until the fabric is well wet; the manufacturer-FAQ mentions spreading with a clean cloth. Follow the method on your own packaging.

Let the treatment dry completely before use. The Protector makes textiles water- and dirt-repellent and helps prevent stains. A treated cushion is therefore not waterproof. Follow the care and storage advice of the furniture or fabric manufacturer, even after using the kit.

Care for the entire garden set in appropriate steps

During the next maintenance session, first assess the fabric and the present soiling. For the Protector, Golden Care mentions annual treatment, with more frequent attention to exposed horizontal parts. The condition of your furniture and the own label remain guiding. This way you use cleaning and protecting at the moment that step is needed.

1. Check the fabric label, fiber and finish; read both bottles and test on an inconspicuous area

4. Let the fabric dry completely
5. Test and apply Fabric Protector evenly according to the label
6. Let dry completely and continue to follow the care and storage instructions

Is this also for synthetic wicker?

For synthetic wicker, follow the hard-materials routine. For rope, first determine the fiber; suitable textiles may belong to the Fabric line.

Can the Protector be used immediately after cleaning?

Let the textile dry completely first. The Protector is applied to dry fabric.

How long should the Cleaner soak in?

The Dutch instructions state three to ten minutes, depending on the level of soiling. The label on the bottle itself takes precedence.

Will my lounge cushion become waterproof?

The Protector is water- and dirt-repellent. Continue to follow the storage and maintenance advice for your cushions.
